Enjoy the best that Tuscany has to offer and on this tour dedicated to the areas best know for its Tuscan wines. You will visit the mediaeval towns of Siena and San Gimignano in the Chianti region.
The first stop will be Siena, hear you will undertake a guided tour and explore the astonishing sights that Siena is famous for. Some of the sights that you will explore with us will be the “Duomo”, “Palazzo Comunale” in the “Piazza del Campo” overlooked by the “Torre del Mangia”. With its unique structure in a shell shape the Piazza is the home to one of the most oldest horse racing activity that has been hosted at the square for centuries. The “Palio” happens twice a year during the summer season and from April onwards the town start its build up to the “Palio” and this can be seen for the colourful decorations that are hung on the walls and outside of individuals houses to show their support to the supporting teams that participate in the race.
After Siena we will head over to San Gimignano, of which its historic city centre has been awarded UNESCO site and give the opportunity to tourist to see what a typical city looked like in the medieval are in Italy.
The city who is widely famous for its medieval towers, where they are built on the “Via Franeigena”, on the hills of “Val D’Elsa” is also famous for its zafferon, its grape type called “Vernaccia” and the ceramics from “Santa Fina”. Hear you can enjoy your free time to explore the cobbled streets and its independents outlets and most importantly enjoying a good glass of “Chianti” in the local bars and wine shops.
